Standard48+ hours$0.45
Rush24-48 hours$0.55
DailyLess than 24 hours$0.75This rate is for jobs during which I am not connected via software realtime features, but the reporter’s deadline to have the file back is within 24 hours of my receipt.
(Subject to the CAT upcharge if it applies.)
RealtimeIn realtime$1.00This includes any session in which I am connected to the reporter’s file via RealTeam, Connection Magic, or any realtime feature of other CAT software. It is the rate the reporter will pay for having me in my home office and proofreading while the reporter is taking a job, regardless of whether or not the reporter is offering realtime service to their client.
(Not subject to the CAT upcharge, due to the nature of the work.)
UpchargeDescriptionPer-Page UpchargeNotes
WeekendTurnaround time includes Saturday/Sunday+$0.10This charge will be added to the job if 24 hours or less of the total turnaround time is not on Saturday or Sunday.
CATProofreading “in software”+$0.05Stenograph CaseCATalyst only.  Must be agreed upon before job receipt.
ScoofingProofreading a “messy” file+$0.15Jobs should be as close to turn-in ready as possible before proofreading.  The more errors there are, the more a proofreader is likely to miss.  The client will be notified of the need to add this upcharge before a substantial portion of the job has been completed and given the option to re-edit, replace the file to be proofread, or cancel the job.  Only those pages that were proofread before notification will be included on the invoice.
ErrataThe client requests an errata sheet in lieu of a marked PDF file.+$0.15Will not be charged if an errata sheet is requested in addition to an annotated PDF file.
Hard CopyThe client requests that the job be printed and hand-marked, with the finished product sent back via snail mail, or that pages with corrections be scanned and emailed back.+$1.00Covers the cost in excess time and materials this process incurs to the proofreader.
AudioThe client sends the audio with the transcript to be proofread, expecting either full-audio verification or “spot checking.”+$0.50Please edit the audio file to eliminate extra run time before the dialogue reflected in the job file begins.  Failing that, please note the time code at which the dialogue begins.  Audio files should usually be in .mp3 format, but can be a different format if notification is given of the file type before the job is agreed upon.
